Product Overview

  • Manufacturer / Model: MGL Avionics (probe made by Centroid Products), sold under part numbers LEVELSND‑12 (12″) and LEVELSND‑24 (24″)

  • Lengths Available: 12 inches or 24 inches

  • Adjustable:

    • Bendable: The probe can be bent within the first 3–5 inches above the mounting base (marked by a black line)

    • Cuttable to Length: If shortened, the probe requires additional calibration steps

Calibration Notes

  • If the sender is used at full, uncut length: proceed directly to fuel level calibration in the EFIS—no Empty/Full calibration required.

  • If the sender is cut shorter: you must perform a calibration in two stages before EFIS calibration:

    1. Set EMPTY calibration by applying power with the signal line shorted to ground, wait ~10 seconds (for post‑March 2013 models), then measure a stable 0.3 V output.

    2. Set FULL calibration by fully immersing the sender in a tank, repeat with jumper, wait ~20 seconds, confirm ~4.0 V output.

  • Once sender-level calibration is complete, proceed with the standard fuel‑level calibration in your EFIS system.

Installation & Compatibility

  • Wiring:

    • Red wire = +11–28 Vdc supply

    • Yellow wire = signal output (0.3 V to 4.0 V)

    • Black wire = ground

  • Compatible with many MGL EFIS and RADAC systems such as the Extreme EMS (signal interpreted in either ohms or voltage mode depending on RADAC switch setting)

  • No mechanical floats—ideal for rugged aviation installations and less prone to mechanical failure.

Mechanical & Environmental

  • Probe body: concentric tubing (metal inner/outer with polyester or polymer insulators)

  • Housing dimensions: approximately 0.72″ tall and 2.625″ diameter

  • Materials: corrosion resistant, epoxy‑sealed electronics for durability across a wide temperature range (approx. −40 °C to +85 °C)
